Hardware Standards
Technology integration provides added value to education. The implementation of technology, however, is costly and complex. The following recommendations are central to the technology efforts of Central Oregon Community College.
- The goal to increase college computer capacity by placing all computers on a 3- to 5-year upgrade cycle (the ability to implement this goal is pending due to budget constraints). Please see the Desktop Computer Replacement Plan.
- Upgrade the network to provide high-speed access for data and video.
- Provide universal access to information for students, staff, and community.
In order to meet these priorities it is evident that software and hardware specifications be standardized. Standardizing products enables COCC to maintain higher levels of technical and training support for faculty, staff and students. COCC attempts to lower purchase costs by purchasing group software licenses or buying hardware in bulk purchases.
