In this workshop you will see and practice strategies for setting up a Grade Center (an electronic grade book). Topic include:

  • Organizing the Grade Center
  • Adding, modifying and deleting items in the Grade Center
  • Weighting grades
  • Adding categories
  • Adding comments to a grade
  • Using "Smart Views" to look at the grades
  • Viewing the Grade History
  • "Got 'chas" to avoid

VISTA Operating System Training for Staff/Faculty [FREE] (conducted by Community Ed): (CRN 46763) call 383-7270 to sign up for this course

As of Fall 2009 all of the main Campus computer labs and classrooms will be loaded with Windows Vista.  Although some already have used Vista in their Office or at home for quite awhile, it is new to many others.  During this 2 hour training you will be introduced to the many new features of Vista and understand many of the changes from Windows XP.  Over the last year we have put in a lot of time ironing out the wrinkles of Vista and encourage everyone to attend so you can feel confident in the new system.

Blackboard Assessment Tools: Learn how to place assessments in Blackboard. We will cover quiz creation and survey creation, as well as how to use Respondus Test Generator to easily get assessments you have already created in Word right into Blackboard. In this session we will also learn how to use the Assignment Tool in Blackboard.

StudyMate Class Server (Lite): StudyMate Class Server is a terrific study-group tool where teachers and students create study materials in a collaborative, web-based environment. Simple templates are used to enter items such as glossary terms or facts from lecture. Students can then view the materials using self-assessments or interactive learning activities. StudyMate Class Server integrates seamlessly with Blackboard courses and creates a social learning environment that is engaging!

Marking-up Assignments (grading papers online) & Using Rubrics: In Blackboard you can mark student papers/assignments using Turn It In's GradeMark tool. You can also grade assignments using rubrics you create in Turn It In. All of the grades you mark display directly to the Blackboard Grade Center.

 Blackboard Version 9 Tour: The latest version of Blackboard is out and is running beautifully. We have it available for our faculty to try out (contact Barbara Klett for information on how to access our Bb Test Server which has version 9 on it).

In this session I'll take you on a "tour" and we'll look at the differences between our current version of Bb (8) and the latest version of Bb (9).

The Flash activities can be published directly to Blackboard courses.
